About
How to survive Stackoverflow
- Check official documentations before asking and best reference it in your question.
- Try to rephrase your question a couple of times and search for these. Chances are you will find an existing post.
- Be as specific as possible:
- What error message did you get
- What did you try so far, share your code
- Never share code/error messages as images. Just copy paste them.
- If you wrote something in the tags that does not to be in the title of your question.
- DO NOT USE CAPS. Even if you are frustrated, be as clinical as possible when writing here.
- Same goes the other way "Hello lads", "thanks in advance" etc is not needed. Write about your technical problem only. You will not look rude by doing so.
- If you use niche technologies, be extra caruful to upvote useful infromation.
How to survive Meta
- Your first post on meta will be downvoted/closed. :P
- Do not see up/downvotes as a reflection of the quality (though bad quality doesnt help) of your post, but rather if people agree with you.
- Do not write feature request for small/low priority changes. It will most likely be rejected. See this transcript as to why.
- Even though basically everyone agrees that the reputation system requires improvements, pretty much any proposed reform to it will be rejected.
