I’m delighted to share that our paper, "National implementation of LOINC: translation methodology and experience from the Polish laboratory terminology standardization project," has been published in Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM).This publication is a direct outcome of a project funded by the Medical Research Agency. As the first author, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the translators, the IT team, our partner HL7 Poland, all of my co-authors, and especially our project leader Ewa Balcerczak for giving me the opportunity to contribute to such an important project I hope our experience will be valuable to others working on LOINC implementation and laboratory terminology standardization! https://lnkd.in/dhfmac4J #LOINC #HealthInformatics #LaboratoryMedicine #Interoperability #ClinicalTerminology #HL7 #MedicalInformatics #CCLM

I am proud to share the first publication presenting the results of our project: "Implementation of the LOINC Dictionary in the Area of Laboratory Diagnostics and Development of a Prototype for the Information Standardization System in Laboratory Diagnostics", funded by the Medical Research Agency (ABM), Poland. This paper represents the first scientific outcome of one of the largest national projects dedicated to the standardization and interoperability of laboratory diagnostics in Poland. It is also the first in a series of publications that will present the scientific and practical achievements of our work. Our goal is to support the harmonization of laboratory data, improve healthcare interoperability, and contribute to the implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). https://lnkd.in/dcNFKhbt I would like to express my sincere gratitude to #RafałŚwiechowski for his exceptional commitment, professionalism, and invaluable collaboration throughout this project. My big thanks also go to all my Co-Authors for their expertise, dedication, and teamwork. This publication is the result of a shared vision and the outstanding efforts of the entire research team. More results are on the way, and I look forward to sharing the next milestones of this exciting journey. #LOINC #LaboratoryDiagnostics #Interoperability #DigitalHealth #HealthInformatics #EHDS #MedicalResearch #ABM #HealthcareInnovation #ScientificResearch #HL7

Proud to partner with the Gravity Project to standardize vital #SDOH instruments in the LOINC® 2.82 release! Together, we’re strengthening the foundation for evidence-based, equitable care. Read the full update below! #HealthDataStandards #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth #HealthEquity
“Updates to Gravity Social Risk Assessment Instruments: Evidence of Ongoing Partnerships” Our formal public consensus terminology development process is well known. A quieter but diligent part of the work is our commitment to ongoing evaluation of our value sets and ongoing collaboration with instrument authors to ensure our standards represent the best and most current science. The LOINC® 2.82 release represents a milestone in social risk measurement with the publication of updated or new critical open-use validated instruments across our earliest domains: food, housing, and transportation insecurity. In the domain of food insecurity, the Abbreviated Child and Adult Food Security Scale, a Children's HealthWatch instrument (thank you, Ana Poblacion), represents the first brief instrument capable of assessing the food insecurity status and severity of households with children aligned with best-in-class USDA Economic Research Service methods. Within housing instability, the Housing Stability Vital Sign, another Children's HealthWatch instrument, was updated to distinguish a recent history of homelessness (housing instability) from current homelessness. (thank you, Richard Sheward and Stephanie Ettinger de Cuba) Within transportation insecurity, our longstanding partnership with the Transportation Security Index authors led to the release of TSI-3, the first open brief scale aligned with the comprehensive assessment of the longer TSI-16 scale. (thank you, Alex Murphy and colleagues at University of Michigan Poverty Solutions) The collective set represents a significant step forward for evidence-based measurement and care. Thank you to LOINC for your ongoing partnership in standards development! Read all about it as part of the summer issue of Health Level Seven International News! https://lnkd.in/e7bgRQDi

The health informatics world has lost a true pioneer. The LOINC community in particular has lost the trailblazer who built the foundation for how most of the world exchanges clinical data today. With the passing of Dr. Clem McDonald, we say goodbye to a visionary whose work fundamentally reshaped healthcare delivery and research. As the creator of LOINC at Regenstrief, Clem helped establish a global standard for identifying and sharing laboratory tests, clinical observations, documents, and other health data across systems, institutions, and nations. Modern interoperability simply does not look the same without his work. Much of the seamless data exchange that feels routine today exists because Clem and his colleagues proved it was possible long before the rest of healthcare caught up. Those who knew Clem will remember more than his technical contributions. He led with humility, generosity, curiosity, and a deep commitment to improving healthcare through practical, usable informatics. He built systems, communities, and generations of leaders in this field. Whether you knew his name or not, if you have ever accessed an electronic health record, received a lab result, or benefited from accelerated medical research, you have experienced Clem’s impact. In his honor, we raise a Diet Coke and share an Oreo or two. Rest in peace, Clem. Thank you for giving the world LOINC.
