Jumper - FATALITY; INC#0623; 10:33AM; Eb Vincent Thomas Bridge Fy; https://bit.ly/3aN6y3D; San Pedro; LAFD is in Unified Command with LA Port Police for a person reported to have climbed the cables on the Vincent Thomas Bridge and jumped. LA Port Police boat was on scene and recovered the patient from the water. Unfortunately, the patient was beyond medical help and determined dead on scene (unknown age/gender). Based on smoke conditions (lack thereof), there does not appear to be an active fire problem. Firefighters left equipment in place and have moved to a safe location while LAPD establishes their operation. This will be a LAPD lead until the occupant is removed and firefighters can make entry to determine what, if any, action is required. The building remains evacuated and no injuries reported. Firefighters investigated and visually located a deceased person below the cliff on the rocks. The incident was upgraded to a Cliff Rescue and crews are currently evaluating the situation to determine the safest method for the body recovery operation.
