Joe ffrench liked thisJoe ffrench liked thisThe puzzle pieces just keep fitting together for me at the moment 🧩 Today, I was in a leadership development workshop, and Sharon Ward talked about the concept of 'destination coaching', which focuses on the idea that the journey should be just as exciting as the destination (while always keeping the end goal in mind). While she was saying this, my brain immediately jumped (as it always does...) from corporate leadership to my own home. If you follow me here, you know I normally write about parenting younger children but recently the 'P0 focus' shifted, as I supported my stepson with his preparation for his Junior Cert exams (for UK readers - GCSEs)... which are thankfully done now! Watching him study made me notice how vital it is that we don't just push our teens to get good grades on results day. We need to support them to actually enjoy the process of learning... to feel excited about working things out, building autonomy, and developing resilience... not just staring at a final grade. And that is exactly why the timing of Darragh Henry’s new venture - ExamHero - feels so uncanny. He has essentially taken the 'destination coaching' philosophy and applied it to study. We didn't want to build another lazy 'answers engine' (I'm looking at your ChatGPT 👀 ) where kids just copy down a quick solution and learn absolutely nothing. We wanted to build a Socratic coach... Something that guides them to think critically and work it out themselves, with the kind of endless, calm patience that we as parents honestly run out of at the end of a long day. And crucially, we wanted it at a price point that actually levels the playing field... High-quality, personalised guidance shouldn't just be for families who can easily afford private tutoring. We're trying to build something that helps teenagers actually value the growth that happens during the grind... teaching them to enjoy the journey, not just the destination 🏔️ 🏖️

Joe ffrench liked thisJoe ffrench liked thisI'm proud to be representing Ireland at London Climate Action Week as part of the Invest4Nature programme, and particularly proud that Irish Trees Ltd is the only Irish enterprise selected to pitch at this year's event. I'll be pitching at Changing Mindsets: Mobilising More Private Investment for Nature in Europe, where I'll be sharing how Irish Trees is developing a Heritage Estate Nature Recovery Model that helps heritage landowners restore nature without selling land, while providing businesses and investors with measurable biodiversity outcomes. Our model has been proven at Dunsany Estate in County Meath, where approximately 750 acres are undergoing long-term nature restoration. The ambition is to build on this success and explore how similar approaches can support biodiversity recovery across other heritage estates and landscapes across Ireland. Nature recovery requires more than funding. It requires committed landowners, credible projects, long-term stewardship and sustainable investment. We believe heritage estates can play an important role in helping to deliver all four. A sincere thank you to Invest4Nature, Horizon Nua, NetworkNature EU and UNEP-WCMC for the opportunity to participate alongside an inspiring group of nature-focused enterprises from across Europe. If you're attending London Climate Action Week, or are interested in biodiversity, nature recovery, natural capital or sustainable investment, I'd be delighted to connect. The 3 Real Benefits of Outplacement Services (That Too Many Companies Overlook) When you're facing redundancies, outplacement can feel like just another box to tick. But done right, it's one of the most strategic investments you can make during a difficult transition. We call is "Conscious Outplacement" - and here's why it matters for everyone involved: --- ✅ 1. Your Departing Team Members Land Faster (And Better) Losing a job is stressful. But with professional coaching and structured job search support, exiting employees gain clarity, confidence, and a clear path forward. They're not just finding ANY job—they're finding the RIGHT job, often in half the time. That's life-changing support when they need it most. --- ✅ 2. Your Remaining Team Sees Leadership That Cares Your current employees are watching how you treat people on their way out. When they see departing colleagues supported rather than discarded, it builds trust, loyalty, and psychological safety. The message is clear: "Even in tough times, this company values people." That's living by the values you say you have and that is retention gold. --- ✅ 3. Your Employer Brand Stays Strong (Or Gets Stronger) How you handle exits ripples through your industry. Former employees become brand ambassadors... or detractors. (Have you seen Glassdoor?) Candidates research how companies treat people during layoffs. Investors and partners notice your culture. Outplacement isn't short term damage control; it's long term reputation building. --- The bottom line? Outplacement isn't a cost. It's an investment in your people, your culture, and your future talent pipeline. If you're navigating team changes and want to do it with integrity, let's talk about customised outplacement that actually works. 🔗 Learn more at Obvious Candidate Book a call to discuss your specific needs. We customise every solution to your needs whether you are seeking support for 1 team member or 100. https://lnkd.in/eu93BB7H #Outplacement #HRStrategy #PeopleAndCulture #Leadership #EmployerBrand #TalentManagement #HRLeadership #CompanyCulture

📊 Restructuring isn’t just about the balance sheet. Handled poorly, redundancies can leave long-term cultural scars: falling trust, disengagement, and higher voluntary turnover. That isn’t just an HR problem, it’s a strategic risk. The reality is that people remember how they were treated during tough times. Those who leave, and those who stay, form their view of leadership not from the reorganisation chart, but from the empathy, transparency, and integrity they see in the process. Handled well, redundancies can preserve dignity, strengthen loyalty, and reinforce leadership credibility. They can even become a moment where values are lived most visibly. 👉 For CEOs, this is more than an operational decision. It’s a leadership legacy. At Chiumento, we’ve seen both sides and the cultural impact can last years. We make you one simple promise: we will look after your people. Contact us today.
