End of Life (EOL) #7454

My company is currently going through a conversion of all projects from Vue 2 to Vue 3. We are also about to start spinning up new projects in Vue 3. These are all part of a Micro Front End architecture. Eventually the new projects will replace the existing, but that may be a while.

With Vue-Cli in maintenance mode we are posed with the question of what to do with new projects. We can continue to create them with the Vue-Cli with no changes to the MFE stuff. However, as we all know, Vue-Cli is now in maintenance mode.

Typically we would not be terribly concerned until we see an End of Life on the horizon. So my primary question is:

Do we know if Vue-Cli has or will have an official EOL?

Additionally, can someone provide a good case for why we would really want to start moving to Vite sooner rather than later? (e.g. the Vue-Cli ecosystem essentially coming to a halt as they move to supporting Vite). We would like to document our decision with something more than just "well, it's the new thing".

Thanks in advance!
