Long-time perspective-heads may have noticed a few changes to the GitHub repo this week :)

The Perspective project is joining the OpenJS Foundation! You can follow along with the process in #3065.

What's changed?

Perspective 4.0.0 is out now. For Python perspective-python and Rust perspective packages, you just need to update to the latest version. JavaScript NPM packages, which were previously scoped as @finos on NPM, have moved and will not longer be published in this scope (v3.8.0 is the last version for these packages). Instead, use these packages for Perspective 4.0.0:

Old New
@finos/perspective @perspective-dev/client and @perspective-dev/server
@finos/perspective-viewer @perspective-dev/viewer
@finos/perspective-viewer-datagrid @perspective-dev/viewer-datagrid
@finos/perspective-viewer-d3fc @perspective-dev/viewer-d3fc
@finos/perspective-viewer-openlayers @perspective-dev/viewer-openlayers
@finos/perspective-workspace @perspective-dev/workspace
@finos/perspective-react @perspective-dev/react

With the future release of 4.1.0, we'll deprecate the NPM package names as well, which will create a console warning when a project tries to install them (but won't make them unavailable).

In addition, the a few internet resources have moved (but the old links will still forward for now):

https://perspective.finos.org is now https://perspective-dev.github.io

https://github.com/finos/perspective is now https://github.com/perspective-dev/perspective

More details can be found in #3073

Any particular reason for this move?

The Perspective community is no longer exclusively or even predominantly finance/fintech industry professionals. OpenJS and FINOS are both sibling members of the Linux Foundation, so move is mostly lateral for the project to reach a wider audience!
