Don't we normally upgrade example repos to stable versions only?

I don't see a consistent practice. For example, in fb191bb, I upgraded this repo to 2.23.0rc1. I'm fine with a policy of final stable versions only if that is what we want. |

I guess it's fine to upgrade to RCs as well.
