Hello,
Thanks for your work on devContainers, really nice use of container tech!
I'm exploring their use in @ManoManoTech and would be interested to join your Slack.
We do have Slack and Business+ plan that include Slack Connect.

Do you need something else to invite me?

Hello
I would LOVE to join the DevContainers Slack Community please.

We have previously added CodeSpaces DevContainer to our Open Source .NET CMS Repo - Umbraco
https://github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS/tree/v11/contrib/.devcontainer

Now with Github Universe announcing 60+ Hours for all for FREE, we now see this as an opportunity to help first timers to the project and to make their first contribution ❤️

I am not sure if we use Slack Connect feature but our Slack domain is
https://umbraco.slack.com and my email is nice and easy on Slack or to drop an email is warren at umbraco com

Hello, I would love to join your Slack, please.

Currently, I'm adopting dev containers in @KusionStack to help our new users to try our tools in Konfig repo with out-of-box prebuilt dependencies and tools. I've created a kusion feature and adopted devcontainers with a .devcontainer.json. Devcontainers really helps us to provide a quick start trial to our users.

Thanks for your outstanding jobs.

Howdy y'all,

I've been doing primarily QC across the android world for a while, and i now am preparing to create my own Automotive Performance Tuning and Diagnostics application. I've noticed how lacking the mobile platform is is in this field and I'd love to fill this void, but help others with my car nerdery. I am a certified Automotive Technician and I'm also currently enrolled in the High Performance Academy to polish my skills and be able to do testing and ultimately have Certifications in many aspects of the Automotive Sector as possible. I saw this a quite a daunting task until I found this wonderful treasure trove y'all have put together a well as all the others that have joined and contributed. I'd greatly appreciate an invite to your slack community, and I'll do my best to be a helpful as I can.

Thank you and keep up the awesome work,

Hello @craiglpeters I am doing my master's thesis on devcontainer features and how more developers can be aware of devcontainer's cool features. I have some doubts, and I could not find it all over the internet. and I found this community. I would love to join. Slack ASAP, where I can discuss my doubts with experts.

Before adding me to the Slack channel, can anyone have an idea of how we can run an sh file or CLI commands before creating a container in the host system? As I am creating a fully automated development environment for our Spring Boot project.

I appreciate it if anyone is willing to answer it.

you can contact me via my email address: riddhi.dudhat.r@gmail.com

Thanks.

This is a subtle and thoughtful question that relates directly to the security and integrity of open-source contributions.
The answer is Yes, but not by inviting a third party, and not through the traditional methods you might think?
The way to verify your involvement and assure the project managers (maintainers) that your contribution is secure and from a trusted source is through GitHub's built-in cryptographic verification methods?
The goal is to prove two things:

  • Identity: The code truly came from you. (True or false)
  • Integrity: The code has not been tampered with since you wrote it?
Here is how you, the contributor, manage this: correctly
  1. Cryptographically Sign Your Commits (The Best Practice) Make a notary
This is the standard and most secure way to verify your involvement. Most of the time, It is also a one-time setup that digitally "stamps" your involvement with every change you make.
    | Tool | Benefit to Project Management |
    |---|---|
    | GPG or SSH Commit Signing | When you push your Pull Request, GitHub displays a Verified badge next to your commits. This badge assures the maintainers that the commit was cryptographically signed by a key associated with your GitHub account, proving its authenticity and integrity. |
  • Action for You: Set up a GPG key or SSH key on your local machine container and Development discussion notary stamp status?
