Hello community,

I've had to create this new account just to be able to post this discussion, as my main account, BoomBookTR, has been suspended and I'm completely locked out. I'm in a very difficult situation and hoping to get some advice. The suspension was sudden, without any warning or explanation.

I strongly believe this is all a misunderstanding related to my attempt to renew my GitHub Education benefits. The process and the outcome have been incredibly confusing.

Here's what happened:

When prompted to upload my student documents, the application interface opened my device's camera.

Not fully understanding the requirement at that moment, I took a selfie, assuming it was a step for identity verification. In hindsight, I suspect I was supposed to hold my student ID in the photo with me, but the instructions were not clear.

After submitting, my application status remained "pending" for about 15-20 days.

Then, suddenly, my entire account was suspended. I never received a rejection notice for my application, which would have allowed me to correct my mistake and upload the proper documents. Instead, the outcome was the most severe one possible.

If this honest mistake was interpreted as a violation of terms, I sincerely apologize. It was a genuine error stemming from a confusing process, not a malicious act. I don't understand why a simple application error would lead to a full account suspension instead of just a rejection of the Education benefits.

I'm reaching out to ask:

Has anyone else found the camera verification for GitHub Education confusing and run into a similar problem?

Is it standard procedure to suspend an account for an incorrect document submission, instead of simply rejecting the application?

While I wait for an official response from support (which I've already contacted), is there anything at all I can do?

I feel devastated to have lost access to years of my work over what seems to be a simple mistake. Any insight or shared experience from the community would be immensely helpful right now.

Thank you for reading.

Wishing you luck my man, I know you already have probably followed correct procedure but this is really all the advice I can give :
1, Don't open multiple tickets and be a nuisance!
2, I have heard about cases like this taking about 5 months to resolve, so just be patient and if you truly didn't do anything wrong, I'm sure you will be okay
3, In the mean time you can think about self host solution like gitlab
Once again, all the best!
