Hi everyone,

At the university I am currently enrolled in, student IDs are issued as a digital certificate. However, when attempting to view the student ID, the system explicitly states that the screen cannot be captured due to Android security policies.

I have made multiple attempts to log into my school’s LMS system and, using OBS Studio, configured my camera to capture the transcript, the enrollment register, and authentication information including the access time and IP address. Nevertheless, I continue to receive responses stating only that my billing information and name do not match.

I also opened a support ticket, but after several days of waiting, the only reply I received was a mechanical message directing me to post in the Discussions forum.

As a cyber university student, I am left uncertain as to where exactly I am supposed to provide location verification. In addition, Korean naming conventions place the family name first, followed by the given name. Even after adjusting the order of my name in the billing information, my application for Education Benefits is still rejected on the grounds that it does not match my affiliation.

I even added clear annotations on the submitted images to show which field corresponds to which information, but the responses continue to be entirely mechanical. Is the decision truly being made by an automated system rather than by human review?

Furthermore, when I configure my camera through OBS Studio, the system applies extreme compression that distorts the image quality. Could you please advise me on how I should proceed in order to complete verification successfully?

It sounds like you are running into multiple issues with digital ID verification, name formatting, and automated system checks. Here’s some guidance to help you move forward:

Understand the verification requirements

Many systems, especially for Education Benefits or sensitive accounts, require exact matches between your legal name, billing information, and school affiliation.
Automated systems often cannot handle formatting differences (like Korean family-name-first conventions) or images with compression artifacts.

Provide documents in the expected format
If screen capture is blocked on Android, try exporting the certificate as a PDF or using official screenshots/download options provided by your university LMS.
Avoid using camera captures through OBS Studio if the system applies heavy compression—these images may be unreadable to the verification system.

Ensure name consistency
Submit your name exactly as it appears in official school records, including order, spacing, and special characters. If possible, also include a note in your submission explaining the Korean naming convention.

Contact support with detailed instructions
Since the automated system keeps rejecting submissions, ask if a manual review by a human agent is possible.
Include all documents in the original digital format, clearly annotated, and mention the exact problem (name order, system message, etc.).

Alternative options

Some universities provide official letters or PDFs for verification purposes that are accepted even when screen capture is blocked.
If your LMS provides a “Print to PDF” or “Export” function, this often works better than screenshots.

The key issues are likely the format of your documents, compression from camera capture, and automated verification rules. Using official digital exports, ensuring exact name matching, and requesting ma

Hi @BBioneer ,

For the student ID, I would open it up on another device like your PC or another phone and get a picture of it that way.

Instead of using OBS to screen capture everything, I would directly upload the documents such as transcript, enrollment, grade reports and billed receipts. (screenshot if not downloadable or try to reach out to your school admin)

The documents should ideally have dates on them (billed receipts/grade reports worked well for me in the past)

In case you haven’t, I would double check this doc again:
https://docs.github.com/en/education/about-github-education/github-education-for-students/solving-problems-with-your-github-education-access
And this:
https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/111352 (scroll down to Common Rejection Reasons + Tips)

For the location concerns, the provided documents should be dated and show that you are part of a distance learning program (again reach out to school admin for advice if current documents still do not suffice, see https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/111352 for more info )

If you’re still facing trouble with support and the support docs, I would reach out to your school’s advisor or admin or check in the school’s forum, I am certain some of them would have faced the same problem and found exact solutions to them. (sometimes this could be the school admin directly sending you the transcripts/ID or this could be your peers telling you the exact document that got their application approved.)

Regarding the first and last name, I would just do this for all accounts and forms that you think might need verification in the future- follow exactly how it is written in your official IDs, instead of following the country’s traditional naming conventions. Reason being most systems and employees are instructed to match the names exactly, especially when you have to take a proctored exam/certification in the future.

Hope this helps
