Update 9/30/2025

The student voucher for GitHub certifications returns to the Student Developer Pack Tuesday, Sept 30, at 1pm EST. We’re thrilled to be able to expand on our offer from last year. The voucher can now be used for either the Foundations exam OR the Copilot exam.

Note that GitHub has moved to a different system, Microsoft Learn and Pearson VUE in order to deliver the exams.

PLEASE READ FIRST:

  • The 2025-2026 vouchers expire on June 30, 2026
  • The voucher can be used 1 time
  • Voucher is valid for either the Foundations Exam OR the Copilot Exam. Not both.
  • All certifications earned through PSI (before July 1, 2025) will remain visible in your GitHub Learn profile. All certifications earned through Pearson VUE (on or after July 1, 2025) will appear in your Microsoft Learn profile.
  • The current exam earns a badge through Microsoft Learn NOT a Credly badge.
  • Need to reschedule? Be sure to reschedule or cancel exam appointments at least 24 hours before your scheduled exam or your fee will be forfeited.

How do you get your voucher?

The voucher is available to verified students as a part of the Student Developer Pack. If you are not already verified, you can do so via your GitHub profile settings. Please see this post for instructions. If you already have the Student Developer Pack, log into your GH account and navigate to the Pack page. Find the Certification offer tile and click on the link that says ‘Request your offer code link’.

Hi @morganersery1,

Thank you for the detailed update on the migration of GitHub Certification Exams to Microsoft Learn. The integration looks promising, and I appreciate the transparency during this transition. I have a few questions to better understand how this will affect current and prospective learners, especially students:

Transition & Scheduling

  1. Do we have an exact timeline for when the student voucher program will resume in the fall? Any estimated month or date would be helpful for planning.
  2. For students who were in the middle of their certification journey via PSI and missed the June 30 deadline, is there a way to transition or carry forward their progress?
  3. Will the certifications earned previously via PSI be migrated or synced automatically to Microsoft Learn profiles?

Certification Content

  1. Are there any changes in the exam content, question formats, or syllabus as the platform transitions to Microsoft Learn?
  2. Will learners now benefit from integrated GitHub + Microsoft certification pathways, or will certifications remain distinct?

Student Developer Pack Concerns

  1. Will the eligibility criteria for free vouchers remain the same when the offer resumes?
  2. Can a student redeem multiple vouchers in the future (for different certifications), or will there be

Hi morganersery1,,

I have taken the GH-100 - GitHub Administration exam on July 18 and I can't locate any information about a result. I am just wondering if there is any place I can get any information on the grading progress or status? I don't see anything on my MS Learn, Github's profile and I haven't received any emails. I tried to open some support case but no luck so far.

Thanks

Hi Pienczyk,

I've just scheduled in my GH-100 exam and saw that there is a note saying it's in beta and that you won't get the result until 8 weeks after the beta has concluded. There is only one call out to this I found on the learn site, I could not find any mention of when the beta will finish so no solid timeline on when we get the results.

The certificates are handled through Microsoft. You need to go to Microsoft learn to schedule the examination and access the learning path

Thanks for the Voucher! Waiting for getting certified.

Where can I claim my voucher..?

Will an Open Badge be issued upon completion of the certification? What if you want to take multiple exams or fail? Is there an alternative exam platform? Unlike other online exam platforms, this one does not appear to be "on demand"; instead, you have to book a time slot.

Normally, when your application is denied, they send an email to the address you registered as a student. In that email, they explain the reason why your application was denied and what you need to correct in order to reapply.

I upgraded to the GitHub Education Pack in November 2024. Am I able to access the certification? It’s not showing up on the Student Pack website. Whether it is only for 2025 year ??
