This repo contains the webpage to handle Backgammon Club Ranking Lists. The acutal lists are stored and maintained on GitHub.
This section contains general information about the Backgammon website.
- ⟳ Headings with a ⟳ symbol can be clicked to refresh the information in that section.
- ⇅ Headings with a ⇅ can be clicked to expand/collapse that section.
Frequent players are included in the Select dropdown menus. When a player, who is not included in dropdown menus is involved, the name can be typed in the field on the right side.
- Select or edit the Winner name.
- Select or edit the Loser name.
- Select or edit the Match Length.
- Click on Submit to submit the match report.
After clicking on Submit you can see the submission status below. The Submit button is disabled until the match report submission is Complete. If another submission is in progress, wait until it is Completed and click Submit again. After a new match has been submitted successfully the Rating and Match List will be refreshed automatically.
Shows the current rating list.
The different ranking lists are summarized over a specific period in time. All ranking lists are shown in tabular form in the Ranking Summary section. A few ranking lists are also shown as a chart in the Ranking Chart section.
💡 You can click on the legend for a chart to show/hide individual data series.
Which ranking list for which period is shown can be selected in the dropdown menus.
- The Ranking List can be selected in the first dropdown menu.
- The General interval, Daily, Monthly, Yearly, and ET (Eternally) can be selected in the second dropdown menu.
- The Specific Period can be selected in the third dropdown menu.
- The Player dropdown menu is only shown for the Player Info Rankin List.
The Result column, used in various Ranking Lists, contains Matches Won - Matches Lost.
- Rating List: Shows the current and future rating of the players active in the selected period. Press ▶︎ to replay the selected period a number of times. Press ⏮︎ to go back to the current rating.
- Rangliste: Shows the Punkte calculated according to a system based on the German ranking. Only matches played on Saturday are considered. If a player wins a match the match length is added to the Punkte. The Punkte are increased by 5 for each Saturday the player played.
- Player Progress: Shows the rating progress over time of the active players in the selected period.
- Matches Played: Shows the total matches played.
- % Matches Won: Shows the percentage of matches won.
- Player Info: Shows how a player is doing against other players. The name of the player under consideration is written in the top left. The matches won of the other player are written close to that player's name.
- Current Streak: Shows how many matches have been won or lost in a row at the end of the selected period. Matches Won is indicated by a positive number and Matches Lost is indicated by a negative number.
- > Winning Streak: Shows the longest streak of matches won a row during the selected period.
- > Losing Streak: Shows the longest streak of matches lost a row during the selected period.
- Days Inactive: Shows the number of days a player has been idling and the date when the player has played the last time. The Days Inactive list makes sense only when the current or recent period is selected.
At the moment there is only one user setting which is your name, as it is spelled in the rating list. It has the effect that you will be selected in the Player Info by default.
Other settings stored are...
- The state of sections, i.e. if they are expanded or collapsed.
- The selected ranking list.
- The selected interval.
The tournament director is responsible for the preparation, execution, and closure of the tournament.
- Collect the entree fee.
- Prepare the scoreboard.
- Set the match length.
- Prepare the pairing tables, if needed.
Pairing tables are available here.
- Run the tournament in an orderly fashion.
- Inform players who is their next opponent.
- Make a ruling in case of dispute, if needed ask advice from more experienced players.
- Make sure all results are reported on the scoreboard.
- Inform Modi or Walter in case of wrong reports, like wrong opponent or match length.
- Take a picture of the scoreboard (very important).
- Post the picture in our group.
- Pay out the winners.
- Check if all results have been reported for the rating list.
- Report matches where the opponent forfeited.
- Report missing matches by checking the results on the scoreboard picture.
Use Matches Played and Daily in the Ranking Lists section to help find out which results are missing. Keep also in mind that some players have played extra non-tournament matches before during or after the tournament.
