The SaveTabs extension allows you to save your open tabs locally and restore them at a later time, even after restarting the browser.
The extension is available on addons.mozilla.org (AMO) and can be installed from there.

The plugin is currently not compatible with Chrome. If you are interested in a Chrome port please vote on this issue.
