This fixes some header lines, and removes as many call signatures as possible. There are still a few left where the documented signature provides some information about default values when the actual call signature uses None. Also some cases where functions take *args, **kwargs and thus need the documentation.

I've had this sitting around in a branch and stash for a while, and I figure I better get it out there before it gets stale.
