This functionality should be disabled by default and enabled via a checkbox under account options to prevent inadvertent deletion of data. Some users (myself included) don't friend or bookmark all of the RPers we keep track of, as bookmarks lead to clutter. Alternatively, I suggest implementing functionality to move all non-friends in the 'Charactername - Friends' section to a 'CharacterName - Contacts' section while leaving other contact directories alone. I.E. I have a 'Charactername - Sci fi' section on my contact list that I don't want disturbed.
