I have the following backup setup:

  • Daily backups: My SSD is backed up to HDD1 using a Borg repository.

  • Weekly backups: HDD1 (which contains the Borg repository from the daily backup) is itself backed up inside another Borg repository on HDD2.

Could the Borg repository of HDD1 inside HDD2 become corrupted somehow?

Is backing up a Borg repository inside another Borg repository considered good practice, or is there a better way to maintain redundancy?

Yes, in case of hardware or fs malfunction.

If you need redundancy, consider RAID or a filesystem that offers redundant storage or just make backups to different locations / different hardware.
