The usage of any open source software is primarily guided by the licenses binding it. Individuals/Organisations, generally make the decision of using an open source software, on this, i.e. the licenses. Vulnerability scanner, aims to take it to a tad higher level. By being a comprehensive tool, which, using the industry standard CVE dataset and data from several other trusted sources, matches packages with any reported vulnerabilities, that maybe present in it. Hence, providing another layer of information for Individuals/Organisations, helping them understand everything under the hood of an Open source software better.
