As requested, the time it took me to write the code was about 20 minutes per file.
I am a "dead tree guy", and own "Python Essential Reference" Fourth Edition (David M. Beazley) and "Core Applications Programming" Third Edition, (Wesley J. Chun). I am also someone who has worked in sockets for a long time. I own the classic "Unix Network Programming" Volume 1, Second Edition (W. Richard Stevens) and used to actually need it.
BUT, I have spent many many more hours than I care to admit trying to get set up to actually develop code in an efficient fashion. I think I am there now, with the books, the "GitBash Shell", my correctly setup .bashrc file, a lot of pip installs and reinstalls, Sublime Text Editor, my participation in the GIT repository interface which basically replicates normal development work, IPython commandline interface, and a Windows directory structure collection which works for me.
It took a while to get it all figured out. In my previous life, I used Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3, Visual SlickEdit, Rational (now IBM) Clearcase and ClearQuest, and a make and branching environment provided by corporate, and not available to me here. Not much translated well initially, until I discovered I could get an actual bash shell on Windows as an optional install initiated from the GitHub windows app.
Now onward to the optional tasks.
