1. Download the files.
2. Compile the mod files on the command line:

   nrnivmodl mechanisms

3. Install the NEURON simulation environment:
   https://nrn.readthedocs.io/en/8.2.6/
4. To run the code directly on the command line:

   nrniv ctrl_high_w.hoc

   In this case, no new directories are created.
