Support more languages
Right now, Focu is limited to a hardcoded set of languages. Proposal is to change this to let the user choose any language, but with a warning that their chosen language might not work with their chosen AI model.

Task Logging
Along the same lines as the planned journal mode, a quick action to log tasks completed throughout the day. Along with journaling where I’;m at / check-in, this will give the model a lot to discuss at the end of the day by correlating how I was doing, with when tasks were logged as working on / completed.

This feature aims to enhance productivity by ensuring that tasks are consistently tracked, reducing the risk of missed or forgotten activities. Also, it can ease out for users to plan up all tasks for the day.

Focu should let users share some basic, permanent details about themselves to give better advice or suggestions. This could include things like their name, job, how they describe themselves, and what they’re hoping to achieve. This way, the app can tailor its responses to fit their needs more closely. A simple plain text editor should do the job.

Minimal task list on menu bar
Currently, on the menu bar, Focu displays the Pomodoro timer. When you click on it, it shows the task you’re focusing on. I’m thinking of a simple task list that can be checked off directly from the menu bar, where each Pomodoro session can cover more than one task. It might be best to show the entire task list for the day with some extra options, like in this example: This way, everything stays clean and easy to manage right from the menu bar.

Instead of using its own Olama, I would love to be able to use my Own LLM in an OpenAI-compatible API (in my case, LM Studio). This allows me to reduce space consumption on my machine, avoiding duplicate LLM files and unnecessary processes.

The pomodoro feature is quite basic, some easy ideas to improve it are: Sound during pomodoro (clock ticking?) Sound when pomodoro ends (alarm?) Popup when timer has ended, potentially with a “bounce”? With the ability to turn above settings on/off for the people who want it.

Journal mode
Right now the main interactions with the app are through traditional chat based conversations. A good addition to the app would be a journal mode, the main difference would be instead of directly conversing with an AI you jot your thoughts down throughout the day and then later you can, if you want, chat with the AI about what you journaled.

Data export/import
Currently data is stored in IndexedDB on the user’s device and is not easily accessible. We should add a feature to export and import this data. Even better if it can be done periodically to a folder of choosing.

Bug: timezone inconsistencies
When changing timezone chats, tasks and notes might not be on the days you’d expect them to be. Proposed solution: group all chats by the date of the local timezone using a string such as “12-30-2024” for 30th of Dec. If someone creates a chat in Singapore, then travels to Los Angeles and the calendar date is the same, those two chats will be on the same day even if the UTC day would be different.
