What is Excel Esports?
Excel Esports is a competition where participants solve unusual game tasks in Microsoft Excel. No finance, just Microsoft Excel and logical thinking skills. Excel Esports transforms a common office tool into a dynamic sport, bringing together a global community of enthusiasts to compete, learn, and celebrate the power of Excel.


How can I participate?
Sign up for any of the Excel Esports Battles of the season and test your skills! All battles are held online and everyone is welcome to participate in all 9 Battles of the season and the Microsoft Excel World Championship Qualification Round. You just need Microsoft Excel installed on your computer, a stable internet connection, and you’re good to go!

How to qualify for the finals?
A total of 256 players qualify for the Microsoft Excel World Championship 2026 Group Stage through a combination of Excel Esports Battles, the Qualification Round, and organizer wildcards. During the Group Stage, players compete in a double-elimination format across eight groups, with group winners qualifying directly for the Semifinals in Las Vegas and the next best performers advancing to the Quarterfinals. Players who do not qualify through the Group Stage can still earn a place in the in-person finals via the Last Chance Qualification Round, which is included for attendees of The Active Cell Training Camp. Additional qualification paths to the Las Vegas finals include the Excel Esports European Open, Local Chapter events, and organizer wildcards.

12 players from each battle qualify to participate in the MEWC 2026 Group Stage
In order to provide fair ground for selecting the remaining participants to take part in the Group Stage of the tournament, a Qualification Round will be arranged on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
It will take place in two time zones:
- Morning Round: 8:00 AM London time
- Afternoon Round: 5:00 PM London time
A player can take part in only one of the two rounds and may choose which one to join. 140 players will qualify for the Group Stage, with spots split proportionally between the two rounds based on the number of applicants in each.

The Group Stage will be a double-elimination all-vs-all format (all 8 groups will follow this Group Stage format), split across two dates:
- Round 1 and 2: Saturday, October 10, 2026. 192 players will remain in action after these rounds.
- Rounds 3, 4 and 5: Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Each round will run in two sessions to accommodate player time zones. Groups will be assigned by the organizers to one of the sessions:
- Morning Session: 8:00 AM London Time
- Afternoon Session: 5:00 PM London Time
Round 1 of the Group Stage:
The players in each group will be ranked based on their score in this match. The top 16 players will be awarded a win, while the bottom 16 players will be awarded a loss.Round 2 of the Group Stage:
The 16 winning players of Round 1 will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 8 players will be awarded another win, while the bottom 8 players will be awarded a loss.
The 16 losing players of Round 1 will be ranked based on their score. Of these, the top 8 players will be awarded a win, while the bottom 8 players will be awarded a loss. Those 8 players will now have 2 losses and will be eliminated from further rounds.Round 3 of the Group Stage:
The 8 players with 2 wins from the previous rounds will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 4 players will be awarded another win, while the bottom 4 players will be awarded a loss.
The 16 players that have 1 win and 1 loss will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 8 players will be awarded another win, while the bottom 8 players will be awarded a loss. Those 8 bottom players will now have 2 losses and will be eliminated from the competition.Round 4 of the Group Stage:
The 4 players with 3 wins from the previous rounds will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 2 players will be awarded another win, while the bottom 2 players will be awarded a loss.
The 12 players that have 2 wins and 1 loss will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 6 players will be awarded another win, while the bottom 6 players will be awarded a loss. Those 6 bottom players will now have 2 losses and will be eliminated from the competition.Round 5 of the Group Stage:
The 2 players with 4 wins from the previous rounds will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 1 player will be awarded another win, while the bottom 1 player will be awarded a loss.
The 8 players that have 3 wins and 1 loss will be ranked based on their scores. Of these, the top 4 players will be awarded another win, while the bottom 4 players will be awarded a loss. Those 4 bottom players will now have 2 losses and will be eliminated from the competition.
After Round 5, there will be 1 player with 5 wins and 0 losses and 5 players with 4 wins and 1 loss. The player with 5 wins and 0 losses qualifies directly to the MEWC 2026 Semifinals. The 5 players with 4 wins and 1 loss qualify directly to the MEWC 2026 Quarterfinals.

10 players from each battle qualify to participate in the MEWC Online Playoff Rounds
In order to provide fair ground for selecting the remaining participants to take part in the Playoff of the tournament, regional Qualification Rounds will be arranged on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
They will take place across five continents (Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, North America, and South/Latin America) at two time slots:
- Asia/Pacific: 8:00 AM London time
- All other regions: 5:00 PM London time
The top 150 players will qualify for the Online Playoffs

The main draw of the Online Playoffs will be composed of 256 players:
- 90 from the Road to Las Vegas battles
- 150 from the Qualification Round
- 16 from FMWC
On October 11th the playoffs will begin. After 2 rounds of play the 256 players will be eliminated down to 64.
On October 18th 2 more rounds(Last 64 & Last 32) will eliminate the players down to 16.
Then the Last 16 round will determine the 8 best players that qualify directly for the MEWC day 3 finals.
The 24 players from the Last 32 round who didnt qualify for the day 3 finals, as well as 16 players from the Last 64 round will qualify to participate in the day 2 matches of the MEWC in-person competition.

The MEWC 2025 Finals will be held in Las Vegas, in the HyperX Arena.
On Decmber 1st, a day before the main event, a Last Chance Qualification Round will be held for all players that arrive to Las Vegas. 15 players from this round will qualify to play in the day 2 macthes of the competition.
The day 2 matches will be composed of 64 players:
- 15 from the Last Chance Qualification Round
- 40 from the Online Rounds
- 8 from our Local Chapters
- 1 wildcard
After the day 2 matches, 16 players will qualify for the day 3 finals.
The day 3 finals will be composed of 24 players:
- 16 from the day 2 matches
- 8 from the Online Rounds
These final 24 players will compete for the Microsoft Excel World Champion title.
