If the rope is pulled to the right the inner disengages from the outer, the jaws open and the rope is released. If the inner is pushed into the outer the jaws will close and bite the rope. Pulling on the rope will then increase the 'bite'. I've never seen one so I don't know if there would be barbs or some other feature to increase the bite. | |
