Sopor Aeternus & the Ensemble of Shadows (Latin: sopor aeternus "eternal slumber";[5][6] also referred to or stylized as Sopor Aeternus or Sopor)[1] is a neoclassical dark wave musical project based in Frankfurt.[2]

Founding

The group was founded in 1989 by a non-binary[7] multidiciplinary artist who uses the pseudonym Anna-Varney Cantodea.[1][8]
