Mohamed Ali Rashwan (Egyptian Arabic: محمد علي رشوان; born 16 January 1956) is an Egyptian judoka.[1][2] At the 1984 Summer Olympics he won the silver medal in the men's Open Class category.[3]
Achievements
[edit]- Winner of fair play international award in 1984[4]
- Silver medallist at the 1985 World Judo Championships in open weight[5]
- Silver medallist at the 1987 World Judo Championships in heavy weight[5]
In 1984, he lost the finals to Japan's Yasuhiro Yamashita, who tore a right calf muscle in the preliminaries. Rashwan stated that he did not aim for Yamashita's right leg because he did not regard that as a fair play, and was subsequently given an award from the International Fair Play Committee.[6]
He also won the gold medal in the heavyweight and open class category in the African Championship in 1982 and 1983.
