3-hydroxyindolin-2-one monooxygenase (EC 1.14.14.109, BX4 (gene), CYP71C1 (gene)) is an enzyme with systematic name 3-hydroxyindolin-2-one,NAD(P)H:oxygen oxidoreductase (2-hydroxy-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one-forming).[1][2] This enzyme catalyses the following chemical reaction

DIMBOA

The enzyme is a cytochrome P450 protein containing heme, isolated from maize and other grasses. It requires a partner cytochrome P450 reductase for functional expression. This uses nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate.[3] It is involved in the biosynthesis of protective and allelopathic compounds such as DIMBOA in some plants.[4]
