Infiniti Overview

Infiniti is Nissan's performance and luxury division. If Lexus was attempting to be Japan's answer to Mercedes-Benz, then Infiniti was the pan-Pacific riposte to BMW. Sport sedans like the G35 and later G37 were credible rivals to the 3-Series. Infiniti crossovers were sporty too, particularly the groundbreaking FX35 and FX45. More recently, the brand has moved to calling all its cars by the designation Q, and crossovers by QX.

The QX80 is Infiniti’s flagship. It started life as the QX56, but transitioned to its current name in 2014 when the second-generation arrived. The all-new third-generation arrived last year. It established more separation between the QX80 and the Nissan Armada. Where the latest generation of the latter was given a healthy dose of off-road ability, the QX80 focuses squarely on luxury with seating for up to eight riders and leading-edge technology.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Competitors

The QX80’s rivals include the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Genesis GV80, Lincoln Navigator and Mercedes-Benz GLS. The outliers are the five-seat Audi Q8 and the off-road-oriented Nissan Armada.

    What’s new with the 2026 Infiniti QX80?

Following on from a total rework last year, Infiniti is not sitting on its laurels. The Sensory model is being replaced by the Sport model complete with an “S” badge. It also gets the blacked-out treatment, sporty mesh grille, new front and rear fascias along with 22-inch sport wheels and dusk-blue semi-aniline leather seating in the first and second rows. The rest of it, understandably, remains unchanged.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Performance

Power comes from a brawny 3.5L turbo-V6 that twists out 450 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It works with a nine-Speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters to drive all four wheels. In normal driving the intelligent 4x4 system powers the rear wheels to conserve fuel, however, by monitoring throttle position, vehicle speed and potential wheelspin it can send up to 50 percent of the power to the front wheels on a proactive basis. The combination gives the QX80 the ability to sprint to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, which is pretty quick for a full-sized SUV. It can also tow up to 3,855-kg (8,500 lbs). A Class IV tow hitch and seven-pin wiring is standard.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Efficiency

The QX80 is rated at 15.1 L/100 km in the city, 12.2 L/100 km on the highway and has an average consumption of 13.8 L/100 km. The annual fuel cost is $5,106.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Safety

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2025 Infiniti QX80 its best Top Safety Pick+ rating. It had Good scores in all crash tests, headlight performance and front crash prevention for pedestrians. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not rated QX80.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Reliability

Consumer Reports gave the 2025 Infiniti QX80 a poor predicted reliability of 30 out of 100 saying, “We expect the 2025 QX80 to be less reliable than other new cars. This prediction is based on Infiniti's brand history and the previous generation of the QX80.”

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Interior

The interior is luxurious, featuring quality materials and lots of leading-edge technology. The focal points are the two 14.3-inch display screens for the reconfigurable instrumentation and multimedia functions. The infotainment side has clean graphics and includes Google Apps and Maps, Amazon Alexa, and a serious Klipsch audio system — it has up to 24 speakers some of which sit in the front headrests. It also works wirelessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Below the main screens is another 9.0-inch touchscreen that gives access to the climate control, seat, driving modes and suspension settings. In base form the QX80 offers seating for eight riders in three rows. However, the Sport and Autograph models trade the three-seat bench in for a pair of Captain’s chairs. In the case of the top Autograph the chairs come with power adjustment, including four-way lumbar adjustment, and a massage function. The adaptive air suspension lowers by 71-mm from normal ride height to the access height making it easier to load passengers and cargo.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Dimensions

The QX80 is 5,365-mm long, 2,350-mm wide and it rides on a long 3,075-mm wheelbase. It has 960-mm headroom in the second and 919-mm in the third row along with 995-mm and 835-mm of leg space, respectively. As for cargo, there’s 623L with the third row up and 1,670L when folded. With both rows folded flat there is 2,860L.

    2026 Infiniti QX80 Canadian Pricing

The 2026 Infiniti QX80 Luxe starts at $106,995, the Sport comes in at $118,995 with the top Autograph commanding $128,995. Delivery is $2,495.
