Transfer and send moneyPublic preview
Move money between your own accounts or send funds to others.
Treasury distinguishes between two types of money movement:
- Transfer: Move money between accounts you own (for example, from your financial account to your payments balance, your external bank account, or another Stripe account).
- Send: Pay money to a third party (for example, a contractor, supplier, or recipient in another country).
Use Global Payouts to send money to third-party recipients internationally. Use Instant transfers to move funds between financial accounts on Stripe.
If your financial account holds a stablecoin balance, see Move money from a stablecoin balance.
Transfer funds to your other Stripe balances
You can transfer funds from your financial account to your Stripe payments balance. This lets you use funds stored in your financial account to fund refunds, disputes, and transfers to connected accounts.
- On the Treasury page, click Transfer.
- For From, choose your financial account.
- For To, select Payments balance.
- Enter the amount to transfer.
- Click Continue to review your selections, then click Transfer.
Transfer money to your external bank account
If you have funds in your financial account that you don’t want to send as payouts, you can transfer them to your linked bank account. Transfers to your own linked bank account in the same currency are free and typically take 1–2 business days. If the transfer involves a currency conversion, Stripe applies the current exchange rate.
- On the Treasury page, click Transfer.
- Click Pay out to external bank account.
- Choose the financial account to transfer from, and the bank account to transfer to.
- Enter the amount to transfer.
- Click Review to view the transfer details and cost breakdown, then click Transfer.
Move money from a stablecoin balance
Moving money from a stablecoin balance is in public preview in the United States, and in private preview in the other eligible countries.
If your financial account holds a stablecoin balance, you can transfer or send from it to:
- A bank account: Stripe converts your stablecoin balance to the payout currency and sends it over a local bank rail. See Payout currencies and bank rails.
- A crypto wallet: The recipient receives a stablecoin asset over a blockchain network. See Stablecoin assets and networks.
To send to a third-party recipient instead of an account you own, use Global Payouts.
If a payout or transfer from your stablecoin balance involves a currency conversion, you’ll see an estimate of the amount that we’ll deposit in the recipient currency. This estimate isn’t guaranteed, and the completed transaction amount might change based on the current exchange rate.
