Automatic Recommendations with Optimize

Optimize finds savings across your cloud environment and tracks realized impact, feeding directly into your financial control plane. CloudZero analyzes your billing data, resource utilization, and configuration details to generate actionable recommendations, each identifying a specific resource, the estimated savings, and how to address it. CloudZero evaluates recommendation types across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Kubernetes, and checks for new recommendations once per day.

In CloudZero, select Optimize from the left navigation.

How Optimize works

CloudZero uses recommendation types to identify optimization opportunities. A recommendation type is a specific pattern CloudZero evaluates (for example, rightsizing an over-provisioned compute instance or purchasing a reservation to cover on-demand spend). When a resource matches a recommendation type's criteria, CloudZero generates a recommendation with the affected resource and estimated savings.

For example, if two database instances are over-provisioned, CloudZero generates two separate recommendations based on the same recommendation type.

Optimize tabs

Optimize has four tabs:

• Overview: Your total spend, potential savings, open recommendations, and realized savings at a glance. Group by any Dimension to see savings by team, product, account, or any category your organization has defined.
• Recommendations: The full list of recommendations across all connected providers. Search, filter, group, take action, and manage which recommendation types CloudZero evaluates.
• Insights: Findings you log about cost trends or optimization opportunities. You create Insights in Explorer, and they appear here for your team to reference.
• Configure Catalog: Control which recommendation types CloudZero evaluates for your organization. Filter by provider, enable or disable types, and view details about each recommendation type. See Manage recommendation types for details.

CloudZero generates recommendations for four providers:

• Recommendations for Azure
• Recommendations for GCP
• Recommendations for Kubernetes

Beyond Optimize, CloudZero helps you stay ahead of unexpected costs and keep spending within targets:
