DC’s new digital service now has a name. The platform, a joint venture of Warner Bros and DC Entertainment announced last year, is called DC Universe and has a landing page.
The site, announced today on social media, describes DC Universe as “a first-of-its kind, immersive digital experience designed just for DC fans” which includes unlimited access to its original series.
The DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital platform marks the second major new service launched by Warner Bros Digital Networks. DC Universe is designed as more than a traditional OTT service, rather as an immersive experience with fan interaction that encompasses comics as well as TV series.
Its inaugural slate includes high-profile comic book-themed original TV series: the live-action Titans, from the king of the CW DC universe Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros TV, with Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft and Ryan Potter set to star; and the anticipated revival of cult animated series Young Justice, from Warner Bros Animation. It will be titled Young Justice: Outsiders. Also on the slate is Harley Quinn, a half-hour adult animated action-comedy series from Powerless executive producers Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey via Warner Bros. Animation; and Metropolis, a new drama series from Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon and Warner Bros. TV.

I am beyond excited for this digital service, but I’m not a fan of the title. It’s too generic. Like, if people are talking about it, it’ll cause confusion about whether they’re referring to the actual DC universe or to the streaming service.

Doing a Harley Quinn show with 3 male showrunners seems strange – why not let a woman write that character for once?
Woman have written her all the time and i have not seen anything that says a woman is not writing her now. No proof there is one right now either to be fair but the writer’s room on these shows are huge and great.
Okay, well I’m a female comic book writer, have been for ten years and I know plenty of other female writers that would love to write Harley. Don’t know any of them that are working on this.
I don’t understand the drive to have every female led show showrun by a woman (i feel the same about women showrunning male led shows) The only reason Harley Quinn even made it into comic books was because of her popularity on a cartoon where she was made, written and created by a man.
