Clean energy for EU islands forum 2026

Video file

Wed 20 May 2026 09:00 - Thu 21 May 2026 19:00
Island

Under the motto "Resilient islands, resilient Europe", the forum focused on the governance of the decarbonisation of EU islands and on the alignment of all stakeholders for a just energy transition. First-hand testimonies from the transition teams of the 30for2030 islands provided key insights to empower islands and their communities through the alignment of stakeholders’ views, priorities, and objectives. In doing so, the Forum demonstrated how building resilience at the island level strengthens Europe as a whole.

The three-year technical assistance provided to the 30for2030 islands, along with national-level regulatory reviews, has highlighted the complex governance of the energy transition on EU islands. The 2026 forum will emphasise experience-sharing between EU island communities and representatives of various governmental levels and stakeholders, highlighting achievements and identifying remaining gaps to ensure full decarbonisation.

Two site-visits have been taken place within the forum: Site Visit 1: Rifugio Climatico Son Oliva School & Site Visit 2: Green H2 production facility

In addition to the regular forum activities, two capacity-building workshops will be held in Mallorca on 19 and 22 May 2026, offering hands-on learning and practical insights for island energy stakeholders.
