Dear all, how can we realistically move this forward?

This issue is 9 years old by now.
Everybody from the discussion agrees, this is an issue.


There were several proposals made, all of them slightly different.

7 months ago I have implemented solution, pretty much similar to the one, proposed by eryksun is the https://bugs.python.org/msg376656

https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/22431

So far I received no comments. 
I am not quite familiar with the decision making in Python development. Who can take a decision which way to go?
