Jard

Neformalni javni imperijalni mjerni standardi postavljeni u Kraljevskoj opservatoriji u Greenwichu u 19. stoljeću: 1 britanski jard, 2 stope, 1 stopa, 6 inča i 3 inča. Neprecizan spomenik je dizajniran tako da omogući da štapovi ispravne mjere čvrsto pristaju u njegove klinove na temperaturi okoline od 62 stepena Celzijusa. °F (16,66 °C ).

Jard (engleski: yard) je jedinica za dužinu. Jard iznosi 3 stope ili 1/1760 milje, što je po međunarodnom sistemu 0,9144 metara. Englesko ime za jard potječe od riječi za ravnu granu odnosno palicu, iako izvor mjerne jedinice nije tačno poznat. Moderna definicija jarda je kompromis među britanskim i američkim standardima i umjeren je naspram metru.
